​​​​​​​1970's Retro Gifts and Memorabilia . The early 1970's saw the introduction of decimalisation and the UK's entry into the common market. However, this decade saw a huge amount of unrest. It was a decade of strikes, blackouts, a 3 day working week and inflation. The cost of a Mars bar rose 300% by the end of the decade! Who can remember the long, hot summer of '76? Star Trek and Dr Who led the way with TV science fiction TV and we saw the first episode of Crossroads (along with it's dodgy sets). The Muppet Show began in 1976, and a host of American imports such as Happy Days, Starsky and Hutch and Charlie's Angels came to our colour TV's. The Chopper Bike (1970) was the must have boy toy, and later skateboards became the norm (if you could stay on them!). Classic blockbuster films such as Jaws and Star Wars were produced, which changed the landscape of the genre.
